Jerry Jones from Jackson, Mississippi opened shop in Nashville, TN in the early 1980s.
He was building customs for Music City patrons and working on his own designs.
He also did repairs and adjustments and that is how he got his hands on a Silvertone. The classic cheap guitars were popular among some famous players. From that repair, Jerry Jones became a fan of Nathan Daniel, the luthier behind most of the Danelectro, Silvertone and Coral guitars. Jerry met with Daniel in Hawaii.
Jerry changed some electronics and manufacturing techniques, but he basically made Daniel’s designs.
Merle Haggard famously played Jerry Jones’ Tuff Dog Tele.
Jerry Jones auctioned everything in 2010 and refused all interviews.
Danelectro trademark is abandoned and anyone can freely copy Danelectro designs. A Jerry Jones Longhorn 6 string guitar showed up at The KC Guitar Show
